PESHAWAR - At least four militants were killed and four others sustained injuries in a US drone attack in South Waziristan Agency on Sunday, intelligence officials and Taliban fighters said.
An unmanned US aircraft fired at least two missiles at a vehicle in Karezaipal locality which is situated near Wana, the headquarters of South Waziristan Agency.
Those killed included two Arab militants and two of their local allies, while four others sustained injuries. Besides, the targeted vehicle has been completely destroyed in the attack.
The aircraft continued to hover over the area for several hours after the strikes. All the militants killed in the strike belonged to Mulla Nazir Group.
It is worth mentioning here that on Wednesday, 11 militants were killed in a similar US drone attack in Dattakhel area of North Waziristan Agency.
This attack is the ninth of its kind on FATA and the first in South Waziristan this year. So far, around 392 drone strikes have so far been carried out since 2004 on tribal areas.
Islamabad has time and again asked Washington to halt drone strikes, but to no avail.
AFP adds: Pakistan government in a statement issued by foreign ministry late Sunday condemned the drone attack.
Pakistan routinely protests against US drone strikes, which have been targeting militants in the tribal areas since 2004, saying they violate its sovereignty and are counterproductive in the fight against terror.
