Two ‘kidnappers’ killed in shootout

RAHIM YAR KHAN - In an alleged shootout, police claimed to have killed two persons who kidnapped a boy from Kotsamaba while their two accomplices succeeded to escape but sources said that these two kidnappers were arrested two days earlier from Gulshan-e-Iqbal locality here. Muhammad Usman, 13, a resident of adjoining Basti of Kotsamaba, Aslamabad was kidnapped by four car riders when he was coming back from a tuition centre. This case was registered in police station Kotsamaba. Kidnappers demanded Rs.5 million but according to the police on Thursday kidnappers agreed to release Muhammad Usman against the ransom of Rs.500,000. Kidnappers asked Muhammad Arshad to come near Chak 84 with the ransom and police were also informed about this matter. The police officials said that SHO Kotsamaba with SHO police station Saddar were going to chase the complainant but Arshad with his son Muhammad Usman met them on the way and told that he paid the ransom to four kidnappers who are on two motorcycles and they would escape from the side of a brackish water drain. The police blocked the drain and after some time when kidnappers reached there, the police tried to stop them but they started firing on the police. The police also opened fire in return and two kidnappers were injured but two were escaped. Police recovered Rs500,000, a motorcycle and arms while two injured kidnappers died on the way to hospital. The police have registered a case of this encounter after the postmortem of the dead bodies.  Some insiders requesting anonymity said that two kidnappers were already arrested two days earlier the encounter. Police started this search operation in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area in the darkness after shutting down the electricity. SHO Kotsamaba Rafiq Dhareja said that two kidnappers were succeeded to escape because police had less resources but the encounter was real.
