GUJRANWALA - At NA-107 constituency, dynasties play a vital role in success of candidates in elections. It comprises nine union councils of tehsil Kharian and tehsil Sara-e-Alamgir.
In the area, the people approach politicians for solution to their problems. Now, they are looking at the PML-N as it has awarded a party ticket to Ch Abid Raza for the constituency. Ch Abid Raza is considered to be a strong candidate for the PML-N while in the adjoining constituencies, the party workers have expressed their disappointment over the nomination of candidates.
On the other hand, Rehman Naseer Marala is the joint candidate of the PPP and the PML-Q for the slot. He became MNA in 2002 by defeating Malik Haneef Awan. So, the main competition is expected between Ch Abid Raza and Rehman Naseer who both belong to Gujjar family which is the dominant caste there, resulting in division of the family’s vote bank.
PTI Divisional Head Ch Ilyas is also a candidate for the National Assembly slot. Last time, he contested the election as an independent candidate and scored only 5,000 votes.
