PTI Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen has said that the report submitted to the court by Nadra regarding the verification of votes of NA-154 constituency has confirmed that the worst ever rigging was committed during the General Election 2013.
He said that Nadra stated in the report that 122,000 votes are unrecognisable while another 20,600 votes are without CNIC numbers. “The report has verified our stance that the elections were rigged. We do not pin any hope for justice on the government that came to power as a result of rigging,” he said.
He said that NA-154 was one of those four constituencies, which Imran Khan demanded to be opened for verification of votes. He said that the Nadra report had confirmed that the public mandate was stolen through planned rigging.
Referring to massive public participation in PTI public meetings, he said that it was reflection of the people’s trust in the PTI. “It also shows that the masses do not consider the government a democratic regime and repose their trust in PTI,” he added. He said that the PTI decided to go to the masses when it failed to get justice from all platforms. He claimed that the masses got awakened because of political drive launched by the PTI.
He further claimed that visible cracks had surfaced in PML-N and it would soon disintegrate. He said that the PTI demanded the prime minister’s resignation as just investigations into the rigging allegations could not be held in the presence of Nawaz Sharif as prime minister.
On the other side, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi has demanded that the government should withdraw the recent increase in electricity tariff immediately otherwise people will be forced to take to the streets.
Talking to journalists here on Wednesday, he added that the government’s decision to increase power tariff was a cruel act and it would further add to the miseries of the poor. He said that the government had completely failed to check power theft and control line losses.
“Where have gone the people raising the slogans of good governance. The poor are forced to bear the brunt of bad governance,” he maintained. He said that the PML-N government kept increasing power prices after every fortnight since the day it came into power. He asked the masses to join hands with Imran Khan who had been raising voice against the injustice in his public meetings and sit-in time and again. “Imran Khan has staged the sit-in in Islamabad for the protection of fundamental rights. The people still have time, though very little, to rise against injustice otherwise they will have to face starvation,” he added. He asked the people to gather in Islamabad on November 30 on Imran Khan’s call and get rid of the tyrant system.
