RAWALPINDI: Major General Sarfraz Sattar has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General, Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement Friday.

In 2013, the major general was appointed Director General of Military Intelligence (DGMI) by then-army chief Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani, replacing Major General Naushad Kayani.

Later, in 2015, Major General Sarfaraz Sattar was transferred to Sialkot as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 8th Infantry Division, which is his present rank. In his place, Major General Nadeem Zaki Manj assumed charge of the office of DGMI.

Major General Sarfraz Sattar was commissioned in armoured corps in 1984. He has also served as defence attache in India.
