2 MQM men among 4 shot dead

KARACHI - The recent spree of target killings again gripped the provincial metropolis on Wednesday when four more persons including an MQM worker and a sympathiser were shot dead in violence-hit Orangi Town and Ranchore Line. Former unit Incharge of MQM was gunned down near his house in Mughal Compound Bhimpura within the limits of Eidgah police station. According to police, the victim 35-year-old Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Faqeer Ahmed, resident of Mughal Compound Bhimpura was gunned down while he was standing outside his home. Four unidentified armed men arrived on two motorcycles and open indiscriminate firing on him, resultantly he received eight bullets and sustained injuries. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) where during treatment he succumbed to his injuries. Separately, a sympathiser of MQM was gunned down while his brother sustained injuries in Qasba Colony in the limits of Pirabad police station. Police said that the incident took place at Zahid General Store situated at Qasba Colony sector 5A/ L, where two brothers namely 25-year-old Muhammad Ali, and 23 Sajid, both son of Zahid, resident of the same area, were sitting outside their house, when two armed men on a motorbike opened indiscriminate firing on them resultantly both sustained injuries. Two more people were killed in the limits of Orangi Town police station. Police officials said two armed men reached on a motorcycle at Tobacco stall and opened indiscriminate firing as a result Naswar Shop owner Zia-ur-Rehman, 25, and another pushcart holder namely 42-year-old Muhammad Yaqoob died on the spot. The bodies of both victims were shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the family after autopsy. Both victims were sitting at a stall when armed men targeted them.
