SC larger bench to interpret NRO cases, says Justice Fayyaz

ISLAMABAD - The 11th roll signing ceremony was held on Saturday in which 28 lawyers were enrolled as advocates of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Senior judge of the apex court, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmad, was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmad said that legal profession was not only a tedious task but also a noble profession, which ensured the provision of rights to the people. He urged the Bar to assist the bench in dispensation of justice, adding that the concept of independent judiciary could only be materialised with the help and sincere efforts of the Bar. He urged the newly enrolled lawyers to put their energies and experience with a view to benefit civil society and the litigants. Earlier, Registrar Supreme Court of Pakistan, Dr Faqir Hussain, welcomed the newly enrolled advocates on behalf of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. He also introduced the newly enrolled lawyers, who came from all parts of the country, to the participants of the ceremony. He said assisting the Supreme Court in dispensation of justice was indeed a matter of honour. Online adds: Supreme Court judge Raja Fayyaz Ahmed on Saturday said that larger bench of the apex court would interpret the NRO cases. This is a constitutional matter and has nothing to do with the verdict on July 31 by the 14 member larger bench, he added. The SC larger bench would interpret the NRO cases and the July 31 verdict against the Nov 3 emergency has nothing to do with this case, he said while briefly talking to media after addressing the participants of 11th Roll Signing Ceremony of newly enrolled Advocates of Supreme Court in Islamabad. 28 new advocates had been enrolled in the Supreme Court.
