Musharraf liable to be killed: Baloch jirga

QUETTA A jirga comprising religious and political leaders of Balochistan Saturday declared former president Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf liable to be killed for ordering Lal Masjid operation, desecration of Holy Quran, violation of the constitution and assassination of Nawab Muhammad Akbar Khan Bugti and thousands of other Pakistanis. They also demanded his trial in the Supreme Court. The gathering held at the Bugti House was presided over by President Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Nawabzada Talal Akbar Bugti. Provisional chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Abdul Matin Akhunzada, Maulana Abdul Qadir Looni of JUI (Ideological), former MNA Maulana Noor Muhammad, JUI Balochistan President Abdul Qadoos Sasoli, Allama Hashim Mosvi of Wahtdat-ul-Muslimin, Wilayat Hussain Jafferi Shia Ulma Council, Mehboob Subhani of Tanzeem-e-Islami, Maulana Muhammad Shafiq Dawlatzai of JUI (S), prayer leader of Jamia Masjid Chaman Pattak Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman, Qasim Khan Soori of PTI, Maulana Wali Muhammad Turabi, Maulana Raza Muh-ammad and others attended the jirga. The participants deliberated the steps and actions of Musharraf and declared many of them against Islam and the people of Pakistan. The jirga declared him a national criminal and observed that hundreds of girls were martyred on his directives in Lal Masjid besides desecration of Holy Quran. They said dozens of mosques were razed during his rule and he also trampled down the Constitution of Pakistan, which was tantamount to treason. They also cited the changes brought into the Hadood Ordinance to strengthen their arguments. The participants of jirga said Musharraf was involved in the murder of Nawab Muhammad Akbar Khan Bugti, Nawabzada Balach Marri and hundreds of other Balochs. They said under the Islamic, Pakistani and international laws, Musharraf was the killer of a large number of people and responsible for destroying the properties of people. In their address, Talal Bugti and Shahzain Bugti announced 1.3 million US dollars as prize money for the killers of former military dictator. They said after issuance of edict, it was a responsibility of the Muslims across the world to behead Musharraf. The JWP leaders vowed to move the court of law against Musharraf besides raising the issue at the international level. Talking to media after the jirga, Maulana Noor Muhammad said Musharraf had not only rebelled against Islam but also killed innocent Muslims, which made him liable to be killed.
