6 die in NWA blast

MIRANSHAH - At least six members of a family were killed and four others injured when a vehicle exploded mysteriously in Asar Madakhel, a village near Miranshah, North Waziristan Agency, Sunday morning. As per details, around 10 persons boarding a vehicle were coming to Miranshah from Lawara Mandi. When they reached near Asar Madakhel village, the vehicle exploded mysteriously, killing around six persons on the spot and injuring four others. The killed persons included four children, a woman and a man. All of the victims belonged to the same family. The injured persons were later shifted to a hospital in Miranshah. The officials have confirmed the incident, but they were unable to explain the reason of the explosion. However, some local people believe that some miscreants attacked the vehicle. Agencies add: I saw the bodies of a husband, wife and their four children, and also four injured at the hospital, local administration official Niaz Gul told the media. Gul said the pick-up carrying passengers from the border village of Lawara Mandi was heading to Miranshah when the grenade exploded. It is not clear how the grenade exploded, he said, but added that tribesmen usually carried guns and hand-grenades with them. A tribesman injured in the blast told AFP that some of the passengers were carrying guns and hand-grenades, but that he did not know how the grenade exploded. We were travelling and suddenly there was blast, Mir Aslam Khan said. On Saturday, at least 12 schoolchildren, including eight of a family, were killed and six others injured when a toy bomb exploded in Luqman Banda, Lower Dir. The children were coming home from their school while playing with the bomb, which they had found from a place close to the school. When the children reached a house owned by Safdar, the bomb exploded with big bangs and resultantly killed 12 children and injured six others.
