Bomb injures 12 in Peshawar market

PESHAWAR - As many as 12 persons sustained injures when a powerful bomb exploded in a cloth market here at Faqir Kalay on Wednesday. According to details, a powerful bomb went off at a shop in a cloth market at Faqir Kalay on Pajagi Road, when people were busy shopping. Resultantly 12 persons sustained injuries, four of them are stated to be in critical condition, who were later shifted to Lady Reading Hospital. The victims who have sustained injuries in the blast were identified as Fayyaz, 30, Haji Mohammad, 40, M Iqbal, 40, Habibullah, 16, Qari Fazl Gul, Liaqat, 17, Nisar Begum, Rezwan, 25, Bilal, 15, Shah Fahad, 10, Musfata, 38 and Zakriya, 9. Hospital sources said that there are two children and a women among the injured. They said that initially it has been stated that it was an IED blast placed by unknown miscreants adjacent to one of the shops. However, no official statement regarding the nature of the blast was made till filing of this report. The sources said that the shop where the bomb has exploded is owned by one Haji Mohammad, a resident of Khyber Agency. The BDS team rushed towards the spot and said that one-kg explosive material was used in the bomb. Nearby shops were also damaged in the explosion. Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, however, no arrested was made till filing of this report.
