Nawaz says PCO judges ineligible

SANGLA HILL (Agencies) - PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif has said those judges who took oath from former president Musharraf are ineligible themselves because they cannot disqualify the person who enjoys complete support of the people. He said this in his address here on Wednesday at a public meeting in Sanga Hill. Nawaz said there is a parliamentary system of government in the country, therefore, the President should not have the powers to dissolve the assemblies. He urged the people to come out of their homes and join lawyers' long march to Islamabad on March 9, 2009 for the survival and integrity of the country. Nawaz said people had not seen any change after February 18, 2008 elections, as there is no change in the present set-up which infact reflects continuation of General Pervez Musharraf's military regime. Nawaz said PPP-led government was leading country to economic crisis and increasing law and order situation. PML-N Chief said drone attacks inside Pakistani territory were totally unacceptable, as these acts were undermining our national sovereignty. He said but unluckily government was not taking any radical step to check these attacks except saying such attacks will not be tolerated and nothing more." He expressed serious concerns over the situation prevailing in Swat, tribal areas and Balochistan. Nawaz said in case President Asif Ali Zardari restores judiciary, deposed Chief Justice of Supreme Court Iftikhar Chaudhry and implements Charter of Democracy, which was the political will of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, there would be no need for lawyers' long march. When the people on the occasion chanted slogans of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, PML-N Quaid replied, "I am not a candidate for any office. I asked Asif Zardari many times only to implement CoD." He said the people would have to unite in order to face several challenges and make the country strong and prosperous. "I will continue my mission to save Pakistan, ensure independent judiciary, rule of law and restore sovereignty of the parliament with the full support of the masses." Nawaz also demanded full accountability of General Musharraf, as he sold 'the respect of Pakistan' and was responsible for bringing the country on the brink of disaster by pursuing "flawed policies during his ten years dictatorial rule."
