Parliament to frame foreign policy: Nawaz

WASHINGTON  - PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has said that foreign policy should be framed on the recommendations of the National Assembly. Talking to Voice of America by telephone from London, Nawaz said Musharraf government during its eight-year tenure had not taken the Parliament into confidence on the national issues. "Pakistan's relations with all countries including the US should be based on mutual respect," he said. Regarding Gilani's visit to the US, he said every democratic government in Pakistan should follow the same line, adding "our relations with the US should be based on mutual respect and understanding." To a question about intensification of terrorist activities in tribal areas, Nawaz Sharif said during the last eight years, the previous government was responsible for this upheaval. He said the issue of terrorism should be debated in the Parliament. APP adds: PML-N Quaid and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is returning home from the United Kingdom today (Tuesday), PML-N sources said. He will arrive in Lahore on a flight from London. The PML-N leader had left for the UK on July 3 on a private visit. The sources said that after his return the PML-N would hold talks with PPP to resolve the issue of the deposed judges. No date for a meeting has been fixed so far, they told this news agency.
