PTV qualify for Patron Trophy Grade-II final

ISLAMABAD Pakistan Television (PTV) qualified for the final of the ongoing Patron Trophy Grade-II after beating Port Qasim by eight wickets in a thrilling semi-final at Multan Stadium Multan. PTV created history by qualifying for the Grade-I trophy by moving to the final. Port Qasim made a big total of 416 in their 83 overs in their first innings. Kamran Younis 84, Wajjihudin 62 and Atif Ali Zaidi 64 not out and Shahzaib Hassan 75 were the main scorers. Yasin Murtaza 4-117 and Raheel Majeed 3-139 were the best bowling figures for PTV. PTV chased the score in an excellent way against the Test bowlers Mohammad Sami and Abdur Rauf. PTV scored 379 runs in 78 overs with the help of two centurions Hafiz Majid 139 and Fawad Hussain 108, but fail to gain the first innings lead. Port Qasim took 37 runs vital lead and were sure to qualify for the final on the basis of first innings lead. But PTV team didnt lose hope and their fast bowlers Mohammad Rameez and Bilawal Bhatti demolished Port Qasim and took three vital wickets on the close of second day at the score of 40. On the third day, PTV bowlers Bilawal Bhatti was the hero, he destroyed the Port Qasim batting line up and uprooted the stumps of four batsmen in his first three overs. Muhammad Rameez also supported him by taking three wickets and at one stage, Port Qasim was 58 for eight. Port Qasim all out 100 in their second innings in 33.2 overs. Abdur Rauf 28 and Shahzab Hassan 23 were the main scorers for Port Qasim. Bilawal Bhatti 6-30, Muhammad Rameez 3-54 and Yasin Murtaza 1-3 did well with the ball. Port Qasim gave a target of 138 to PTV in their second innings. PTV achieved the target in 27.3 overs at the loss of two wickets. Raheel Majeed 38, Yasin Murtaza 48 not out and Umair Khan 38 not out and snatched the victory and won the semi-final against all odds by eight wickets. This was the successive fifth victory of PTV team in Patron Trophy Grade-II.
