Amjad shines in Inter-varsities Athletics in Beijing

OUR STAFF REPORTER ISLAMABAD - Amjad Saddique, a scholarship awardee of National University of Modern Languages (NUML), won three medals in 'Beijing Inter Universities Athletic Competition held at Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). Amjad, son of M Siddique, scored two silvers in 800 meters race and 400 meters relay race respectively and won one bronze medal in 400 meter race, said a news release received here from Beijing. Amjad, 23-year-old, is the first Pakistani student achieving such a pride by outshining Chinese athlete in Beijing Athlete Competition. Amjad was declared the best athlete of Beijing Language and Culture University after achieving three distinctions during the athletic championship. He earned honour and respect for Beijing Language and Culture University and also ensuring pride for NUML being a scholarship awardee of the home university in Islamabad. Amjad studied Chinese language at NUML during session 2008-2009 and received the international scholarship in undergraduate students in Chinese Language research institute at Beijing Language and Culture University. Amjad has set the true example for students by representing the Pakistani youth in China with his efforts to achieve the success in studies and sports. Amjad, on the occasion, said that he would like to continue his performance and want to secure honour for his Alma meter, the NUML. He also aspired to teach at NUML after completing his language studies. NUML and BLCU are sister universities offering many sand-witch programs including scholarship opportunities to the students of both the nations to strengthen educational and cultural ties between both the countries.
