Younis Khan apologizes to PCB Chairman, keen to play remaining matches

Younis Khan is arguably a short-tempered player who doesn’t compromise on his principles. After quitting the ongoing Pakistan Cup due to substandard umpiring in the tournament, PCB Chairman Shehryar Khan telephoned him and discussed the matter with him after 2 days and according to the media department of PCB, Younis Khan felt sorry for his actions and articulated his will to play the remaining matches of the tournament.

PCB’s head told him that the board wants to take senior players along with them He added: “You [Younis] are the adviser to the Chairman of PCB. You shouldn’t have left the tournament in the manner you did. You should have spoken to me if you had any sort of issue.”

Earlier Younis Khan left the Pakistan Cup and went to his native city Karachi after he felt that the umpiring standard in the tournament was below par. His team was at the receiving end of couple of poor and absurd decisions. Subsequently, he was fined some portion of his match fees for his invalid and rude behavior with the on-field umpire, Shozab Raza.

According to the media statement from PCB, Younis Khan showed remorse for his attitude and that he felt sorry about what happened. Moreover, he also expressed his desire and willingness to take part in the remaining matches of Pakistan Cup. It is not yet decided or disclosed whether he will be allowed to participate in the outstanding matches of the tournament.

At present, KPK is ranked at No. 1 position in the tournament with one match still to go. They are quite certain to qualify for the final match of the tournament. It will be extremely interesting to see if Younis Khan will be allowed to take any further part in the rest of the tournament.
