KARACHI  - Leg-spin bowling legend, Abdul Qadir believed that Yasir Shah is best prospect in that brand of
bowling but Pakistan was definitely lagging in quality leg-spinners. "My recent and past surveys made me believe that Pakistan authorities and coaches got to work in preparing and  developing this dying art of spin bowling," he told APP on Thursday.
Abdul Qadir nick named "Bao" in cricketing circles, was here to supervise open trials to select talent spinners for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) under its talent hunt programme in the age group of over 17 to 25.  "In my opinion Yasir Shah is best available successor to Danish Kaneria and if he keeps working hard and provided with proper guidance, can be developed into good leg-spinner," he added.
"Leg-spin is not an easy type of bowling but a natural art which can be blossomed with the passage of time," Abdul Qadir said. "Leg-spin bowling remained, Pakistan's main weapon against top teams like Australia, England and West Indies but now we finding it difficult to spot such a talent in domestic cricket.
"A real hard work is required in this type of bowling and it take years to master it," Qadir pointed out. "A lot of hard work is required to spot leg-spin bowling talent at grassroots and junior levels and groom them on long-term basis," said Qadir.
He said during open trials in Peshawar, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, he could hardly find any budding leg-spinner. Abdul Qadir's son Usman Qadir, who remained part of Pakistan's Under-19 Junior World Cup team also bowled leg-spin but it was yet to be seen that will he be able to follow his father's  footstep.
