PEF demands Rs80m for renovation of Railway schools

LAHORE - In order to renovate the dilapidated buildings of railways schools, Directorate of Schools has demanded 80 million rupees from Railways Ministry. It was informed to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Railways during a presentation that there are 22 educational institutes including 17 schools and 5 colleges under Railways and about 11,300 students are studying in these institutes with 611 staff members in various categories. It was told to the body that 9.5 million rupees are granted to the railways staff in the form of salaries, while 2.5 million are paid to schools staff in the form of remunerations. It was informed to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Railways that three girls colleges have been upgraded. And in these institutes fees from children of railways staff from grade 1 to 10 is only Rs40, while Rs1500 from private students. While children of railways staff from grade 11 to grade 16 pay Rs190 and privates Rs1500 fees. While the children of the staff from above grade 17 pay Rs340 and private students Rs1500. There is also computer education in these schools. It was also informed to the committee that the Pakistan Railways wanted to open new colleges in Sukkur and Karachi division and two boys college will be upgraded.
