KARACHI - Mubariz Ahmed of KGC won double honour at the Nick Faldo junior Asia series Pakistan when he emerged as overall winner at the three day 54 hole event that concluded here Sunday at Karachi Golf Club and also won top place in his own boys Under-16 age category. His aggregate score in his age group was 234 which gave him the top place in that event and as that score also was the best score by any of the 39 boys and three girls contestants that appeared in the event he was declared overall champion of the event. He was handed a trophy specially flown here from Hong Kong for being the overall winner by the CE of Nick Faldo Junior Asia series Tom Phillips. He was also given a medal like other juniors who won top places in their age groups. The competition also served as trials to pick Pakistani juniors for Nick Faldo Asia series finals which will be played in March 2012.The PGF will send all those, who won in their age categories, to China to play against the winners of other Asian countries where similar kind of contests were held. Secretary PGF Taimur Hasan was also present on the occasion. Those who won in their age group categories and automatically earned the right to travel to China are: Boys U-21: Ghufran Ghani (DHA) score 237; U-18: Samir Merchant (DHA) score 236; U-16: Mubariz Ahmed (KGC) score 234. Girls U-21: Kashifa Zafar score 267. Final scores: Boys U-21: 237: Ghufran Ghahi (DHA); 238: Taimur Khan (Pindi); U-18; 236: Samir Merchant (DHA); 263: Salman Khan (Pindi); U-16; 234: Mubariz Ahmed (KGC); 236: Mahad Zafar (Royal Palm).
