LHC issues contempt notice to VC Khawaja Farid University for non-compliance with court orders

Rahim Yar Khan - Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench has issued contempt of court notice to Vice Chancellor Khawaja Farid University Rahim Yar Khan Dr Sulaiman Tahir for non-compliance with court orders and fixed the hearing of the case for December 7. According to details, Vice Chancellor Khawaja Farid University Dr Suleiman Tahir allegedly started a considerable reduction in the monthly salary of Dr Munawar Hussain, an assistant professor of the university without the approval of the University Syndicate and later fired him. Hussain, while filing a writ petition in the Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench, contended that the vice chancellor of the university could neither reduce his salary nor dismiss him without the approval of the Syndicate as per law. Orders should be issued to the university vice chancellor to reinstate him on the old salary as well as to pay his arrears. All the measures should either be approved by the University Syndicate or they should be reinstated. However, according to the sources, despite the clear orders of the Lahore High Court, Dr Suleiman Tahir held two meetings of the University Syndicate. Dr Munawar Hussain again approached the Lahore High Court on which the Lahore High Court summoned the university vice chancellor Dr Suleiman Tahir on November 15 for questioning but he did not appear.  He was again summoned on November 23, but he still did not appear. However, the Supreme Court summoned him again on November 30, but he still did not appear. The notice said that if you do not comply with the order of the court, why not you be punished under Articles 5 and 6 of the Contempt of Court Ordinance 2003. It should be noted that during his appointment, the vice chancellor did not like.
