Newly elected President of Pakistan Tennis Federation Mr. Kaleem Imam has taken charge two months back. In this very short period, he has taken some steps for development of tennis in Pakistan. He has chalked out both long term and short term plan to upgrade the standard of tennis in the country. The President of federation has focused on junior players under 12, 14 and 16 to groom them at the international level. The decision is very appropriate as these junior players will bring results and glory to the name of Pakistan in coming four to six years. Immediately after assuming the responsibilities, Pakistan U-14 tennis team selected and departed for Myanmar to participate in Pre Junior Asian competition from 23rd Jan to 1st Feb, 2011. This will give the junior players an opportunity of international exposure. It is necessary to mention here that selection was on merit. U1-4 team has been visiting abroad after a gap of five years. Ladies team have not participated in the Federation Cup since last ten years. It is the new Federation who has done this. The team has been selected, finalized and will move to Thailand within two or three days to participate in Federation Cup. NAZIA ASIF, Kamra, January 30.
