Rawalpindi-Gujar Khan police have arrested a man for his alleged involvement in recording an objectionable video of a 12-year-old girl forcefully, informed a police spokesman on Friday.
A case has been registered against the accused identified as Umer Masood while further investigation was on, he added.
City Police Officer (CPO) Sajid Kiani had taken notice of the incident and directed the subordinates to launch investigation into the matter purely on merit.
According to police spokesman, a citizen lodged a complaint with PS Gujar Khan stating her 12-year-old sister went to house of Umer Masood some seven days ago where he (Umer) grabbed her forcefully and made objectionable video of her. He pleaded police to register case against the accused and to arrest him.
Taking action, police registered case and held the accused, he said.
In a statement, CPO Sajid Kiani said that police would solve the case in the light of solid evidence collected by investigators. He said violence against children and women would not be tolerated at any cost and strict action would be taken against those found involved in such crimes.
Meanwhile, police have arrested three drug peddlers and seized hashish and liquor from their possession. Separate cases have been registered against the drug peddlers identified as Zulfiqar, Mehwish and Haroon with police stations Saddar Wah, Airport and Race Course, the spokesman said. Action has been taken against the drug peddlers on directions of CPO Sajid Kiani and SP Potohar Division Rana Abdul Wahab.
Similarly, police launched a crackdown against kite dealers and held Manzoor. Police recovered 500 kites and 60 twines from his custody. In yet another action, police held three men involved in selling fireworks besides recovering huge quantity of fireworks.
CPO Sajid Kiani appreciated the performance of police.
