Haripur admin imposes ban on swimming in River Indus

TARBELA GHAZI – The district administration of Haripur has imposed Section 144 in tehsil Ghazi on taking bath in River Indus and renting out property or houses without prior verification from local police.
According to details, on the request of Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ghazi ASP Wahid Mehmood, District Coordination Officer Haripur imposed Section 144 CRPC on taking bath in River Indus flowing adjacent to Ghazi as a preventive measure to save lives of people.
The SDPO said Section 144 was imposed on the banks of the River Indus in Ghazi area so that people avoid bathing in the river. Although Section 144 is imposed every year in the summer on taking bath in the river, yet it was never implemented properly.
But this time recently posted ASP Wahid Mehmood as SDPO directed the police for strict implementation of Section 144.
ASP Wahid Mehmood said Section 144 was imposed to save precious lives, as numerous incidents of people’s drowning have occurred earlier.
The district administration has also imposed ban on letting houses to anyone without prior verification of police. All the people who have already rented out their houses have been directed to submit the details of people to whom they have rented their houses.
