China lauds Pak support in UNGAI body election

ISLAMABAD - China has thanked Pakistan for supporting it in the election of the 89th United Nations General Assembly Interpol Executive Committee.

Chinese Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi in a letter written to Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that China was grateful for Pakistan's support in the election of Interpol Executive Committee as representative of Asia.

"Pakistan and China are strategic partners in bilateral affairs,” the Ministry of Interior said in a statement quoting Chinese Minister.        He said that there was a need to increase cooperation between Pakistan and China’s law enforcement agencies.

"We are looking forward to work together for bringing the people of the two countries closer,” the Chinese Minister said.

He also appreciated Pakistan's role in assisting China in investigation of Dasu terrorist attack.

Separately, Deputy Minister for Interior of Turkey Ismail Gatakli called on Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed at the Ministry of Interior.

The ministry in a statement said that the two dignitaries discussed bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

Both the sides held discussion on the regional security situation, illegal immigration, and human trafficking, according to the ministry.

The two counterparts agreed to enhance cooperation and collaboration in preventing illegal immigration and human trafficking. Sheikh Rashid told his Turkish counterpart that action was being taken against elements involved in illegal immigration and human trafficking.

He also appreciated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an's stance on Indian atrocities being committed in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
