KARACHI - SSGC’s Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operations (SS&CGTO) continued to make inroads into the menace of gas theft through fresh raids in Karachi and Hyderabad.
The other day the SS&CGTO team along with Distribution, Customer Relations Department and Sindh police carried out three successful raids in Nazimabad and Gulshan-e-Iqbal Scheme 33 areas in Karachi.
FIRs were registered for direct use of gas for commercial purposes. Total load obtained was 1,055 cft/hour. Claims will also be raised accordingly.
SS&CGTO team also raided Fareed Baba Plaza in Hyderabad and found direct use of gas for power generation, supplying electricity to about 56 flats and shops with two generators of 30 KVA each. Total load was found to be approximately 600 cft/hour with pressure of found 2.2 psig. FIR is being lodged and gas theft claim will be raised.
On the legal front, SSGC has gotten another success. The Hon’ble Sindh High Court Hyderabad Circuit bench rejected bail application of accused Shahid, owner of a confectionary factory in Hyderabad and sent him to jail in the case of direct illegal use of gas registered vide an FIR lodged in the jurisdiction of police station in Phuleli, Hyderabad. Gas theft is a serious crime against the community, and aggressive action will continue to bring gas thieves to justice in SSGC’s franchise provinces of Sindh and Balochistan.
