Man strangles stepmother; another stabbed to death

Violence, incidents claim six lives

SARGODHA/ ATTOCK/ GUJRANWALA/ KASUR-Six persons including three women and a minor girl were killed in different incidents of violence, ‘honour’, and road accidents here the other day, according to police.
In Sargodha, a youth strangled his stepmother in red-light area within the Factory Area police precincts. The accused, identified as Muhammad Akbar, had quarrelled with his stepmother Shahida alias Rani over her activities and strangled her to death. Locals nabbed the accused and handed him over to the police. Routine activities in the area had been halted after the murder. Police filed a case and launched investigation.
In Attock, unidentified assailants shot dead a woman in the jurisdiction of Saddr police. Sohaib Khan, along with his two wives - Asma and Lubna - was on the way back home from hospital on a rickshaw. Near Dhok Pathan, the rickshaw they were travelling on broke down. Meanwhile, unidentified assailants opened fire on Akbar and his family. Resultantly, Asma Bibi was killed on the spot while Lubna was injured critically. Rescue 1122 shifted the injured and the dead body to hospital. Asma Bibi, 23, was mother of three children while Lubna was pregnant with a baby. Police registered an FIR and launched investigation.
In Gujranwala, a man stabbed his wife to death on refusal to give him money for the purchase of drugs. The accused was identified as Mushtaq. He was a drug addict. He demanded money from her wife, Razia, for the purchase of drugs. On refusal, he got angry and attacked her with a knife. As a result, she sustained critical injuries and died on the spot. Khiali police launched investigation.
In another incident, a six-year-old girl died on the way back home after medical examination at DHQ Hospital. The family blamed doctors for the death. Noor Fatima, patient of diarrhoea, was brought to the hospital. Doctors prescribed the girl medicine and asked the family to take her home. She died on the way back. “Had the doctors paid due attention to the girl, she would not have died untreated,” the family said.
On the other hand, a man died and several others were injured after a Toyota van overturned due to speeding at Kot Ladha. The deceased was identified as Tariq. The injured included Ibrahim, Nazira, Sunbal, Asma, Wajat, Abdul Rehman and others. They were rushed to DHQ Hospital by Rescue 1122.
In Kasur, a motorcyclist was killed the other night. Ishaq of Mauza Sahid was on his way along with wife, Rafia, on a motorbike. Near Bhatti Hospital, he couldn’t guess the distance due to low light and the motorbike rammed into the railway crossing. Resultantly, Ishaq was killed on the spot while his wife sustained critical injuries. She was rushed to DHQ Hospital by Rescue 1122.
BOY ABDUCTED
In Okara, a Class-X student, Ansar Ali, was abducted by some unidentified men on the way to school from his house Ahmed Ghafoor Town. A-Division police registered a case.
