DCO inaugurates watercourse

OUR STAFF REPORTER SHERGARH - Okara District Coordination Officer (DCO) Capt (r) Saif Anjum Friday inaugurated a bricked watercourse at Bahripur, a village 3-km South of the teshil headquarters Depalpur. The watercourse has a total length of 3,520 meters out of which 456 meters has been bricked while the rest has been improved by the Water Management Department in collaboration with the local farmers. Completed within a duration of three months, the lining and improvement of the watercourse has incurred a total expenditure of Rs715,236 out of which Rs475,236 was paid by the government while Rs240,000 was contributed by the farmers. The DCO appreciated the spirit of the farmers in building their waterways in collaboration with the government and said that the lining of the watercourse would not only increase per acre quantity of the water but also ensure its flow to the 'tail fields. DCO Saif said the lining of the remaining waterway would also be considered to further improve its efficiency. Depalpur Assistant Commissioner Suhaib Iqbal, Tehsildar Malik Muhammad Afzal, Naib-Tehsildar Azhar Hassan Chaudhry, Water Management District Officer Ahmad Ali Khichi and Deputy District Officer Khalid Dad Watto were also present there.
