LAHORE - Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal refused to oblige PTI MPAs’ demand of appearing before him together for the verification of their resignations.
The speaker has made the refusal through a letter written to the PTI MPs. The letter was received by Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed on Tuesday.
Rana Iqbal has written the letter in response to a similar letter written by Mian Mehmood demanding collective appearance before him (speaker) for the verification of 29 resignations of the PTI MPAs in person.
The speaker, refusing to oblige the PTI members’ demand, conveyed them through his reply that they have to appear before him individually, as this is the only possible formula which could satisfy him concerning the confirmation of the PTI MPs.
Talking to The Nation, Mian Mehmood confirmed the reply letter of Rana Iqbal, and reiterated the party stance saying that they would not appear before the Speaker individually.
He said, “We’ll devise a strategy in a day or two in this regard.”
The Opposition Leader had written a letter to the Speaker demanding collective appearance before him for the confirmation of their resignations and not individually.
The Speaker had called the group of four PTI MPAs on September 29, while they further had to meet him one by one on different times. The second group was called on September 30.
The PTI members through their leader Mian Mehmood said that calling them one by one was a conspiracy against the PTI.
