Garrison Golf Club ahead by three strokes in National Inter Club Golf

LAHORE - Lahore Garrison Golf Team accumulated a gross team score of 475 to take lead in the Inter Club Championship 2022 at the Islamabad Golf Club Golf Course on Friday. 
Islamabad Golf Club Team is placed at a gross team score of 478, followed by Karachi Golf Club, Karachi Team at 512 and Peshawar Golf Club Team at 525. Regarding the individual performances on the first day of this three-day championship when only amateurs and senior amateurs were seen in golfing action, the amateur category players of Lahore Garrison proved to be most useful for their team with steady individual scores that helped to elevate their team’s position to an uplifted level. 
Nouman Ilyas had a round of gross 75, while young Damil Ataullah carded a useful gross 77 and the talented Capt Zain chipped in with gross 79. Senior Amateur category player Tariq Mehmood was most impressive with a gross 75 backed by modest efforts by Ikram ul Haq and Raja Asif Mehdi. Overall, Lahore Garrison Team compiled a team score of 475 and are the front runners, three strokes ahead of their robust rivals, Islamabad Golf Club.
For Islamabad Golf Club, the principal performers were Shumayl Aziz, Fawad Trimzi and Hamza Sheikh in the amateur category and in senior amateur category, Tariq Akbar, Ibrar Khan and the illuminated one of our national golf scene in the sixties, seventies and eighties, Taimur Hassan Amin. This champion of yester years sparkled in the opening round with a gross 76. Islamabad Team compiled a score of 478 and are placed three strokes behind the leaders.
Karachi Golf Club Team finished the first day at a team score of 512, a rather disheartening effort. Peshawar team is placed low down at a team score of 525 and trail the leaders by 50 strokes. As per championship format, the ladies, junior girls and boys enter the contest from today (Saturday) at the Islamabad Golf Course.
