According to a news report, WAPDA has warned the consumers that during this summer any household using an air conditioner will be charged at the rate of 1150 units per month. But the fact is that the honest customers use AC for a limited period of time daily whereas the dishonest ones always cut a deal with the concerned WAPDA staff and run their ACs twenty four hours a day and have to pay very little. And this new warning will only force the remaining users to also enter into deals with the meter readers. This is how WAPDA and other government corporations are going bankrupt. This also proves how WAPDA is being used as an instrument of public torture. The government is requested to ask WAPDA to withdraw this illegal notice and rectify its affairs on the whole and save itself from total collapse. Moreover it is really a sad commentary on the economic status of a country that its electricity rates are highest in the world and its middle class household cannot afford to run even one air conditioner.
