ISLAMABAD A petition seeking action against former president General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf and his accomplices for imposing emergency on 3rd November 2007 was filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The petitioner Shamshad Ahmad Mangat, Waqt TV reporter, has submitted a contempt of court petition in the Supreme Court seeking immediate action against Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz and the then governors of the four provinces. In his petition, he said that imposition of emergency despite decision of seven-member bench of the Supreme Court was a contempt of court. Therefore, action should be taken against those who even advised Musharraf or signed on his decision of imposing emergency. While taking to TheNation, Shamshad said people who imposed emergency were answerable to the nation for violating rules of court. He continued that the Musharraf breached the Constitution and violated Supreme Courts order by imposing emergency rule on November 3, 2007. The respondents should appear before the court, he sought.
