Multan CTD kills six terrorists in Layyah

LAYYAH - At least six terrorists were killed while two others escaped yesterday night during an armed encounter with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab police in tehsil Choubara of district Layyah.

According to the CTD sources, eight Al-Qaida terrorists were preparing in the deserted area of Choubara to attack the officers and personnel of law-enforcement agencies.

A CTD team of Multan raided the terrorists’ hideout and exchanged heavy fire with them. As a result, six terrorists were killed while two managed to escape. The police recovered two hand grenades, two automatic rifles, one TT pistol and a mouser from the hideout.

The bodies of the terrorists were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Layyah for postmortem while the CTD authorities are investigating the incident.

According to reports, terrorists, including four foreigners, clashed with the law-enforcement agencies when they were challenged. In the exchange of fire, six terrorists were killed while two escaped taking advantage of darkness.

MAJOR TERROR BID FOILED IN GUJRANWALA: The Counter-Terrorism Department police, on a tip-off, carried out an operation near Mini Stadium at Sheikhupura Road in Gujranwala and apprehended a Daesh commander, Faisal Babar.

Pressure cooker bombs, timers, ball bearings and detonators were recovered from him. Sources said the arrested terrorist had planned to carry out attacks on security forces installations in Gujranwala.

They further revealed the terrorist had been shifted to some undisclosed location for further investigation.
