Raising a pen after stick

Colonel (Retd) Riaz Jafri leading, there are many retired majors and colonels who assail politicians on flimsy grounds in your paper. Problem with men like Mr. Jafri ilk is that they only wish to see a uniformed general rule. Having served in junior ranks they look at a general with awe and consider him an incarnation of wisdom and foresight. I have never read a letter by Mr. Jafri criticising General Musharraf. Not a day passes when one does not come across letters in various newspapers by those of Mr Jafri's ilk. The nation is sick and tired of these retired and tired majors, colonels, and generals. Their heydays are over. They should rest in peace and let the nation be. -MIRZA TUFTAN BAIG, Lahore, via e-mail, February 11.
