Huge corruption in Daska school unearthed

SIALKOT-An enquiry has been launched against the headmaster of Government Jinnah Islamia Elementary School over his alleged corruption and fleecing the students under the guise of tuition fee, it is learnt.
Out of 77 middle class students of Government Jinnah Islamia Elementary School Daska, only 13 students passed the PEC Examinations 2014 whereas only 21 primary class students passed from 103 students.
Sources said that the students have to remain in the school for additional three hours daily for tuition for which the parents pay Headmaster Zulfiqar Ali and his assistant Gulab Din Rs500 per month. Thus, the 180 students had paid them over Rs1 million as tuition fee in one year and the practice has been underway for the last 11 years except one year when the headmaster was transferred. However, he has generated at least Rs9 million from the campus.
Over the bad result, their parents protested against the school administration. Meanwhile, the headmaster asked Ejazul Haq, the principal of Govt High School Daska to enroll the failed students in 9th class. For which, he declared the failed students pass in the school leaving certificates issued during 8-10 of April, 2014.
When contacted, Zulfiqar earlier claimed that the school’s result remained 100 percent, and hoped that the students would get awards. But the moment he came to know that this scribe is well aware of the school result, the headmaster offered him kickbacks and asked him not to raise the issue. However, he said that the secretary education had declared the students who had obtained 20 percent marks as pass in a letter dated 16th of April 2014. However, the headmaster had declared the failed students passed in the school leaving certificates between 8-10 April.
EDO Education Muhammad Saleem Shahid was surprised on the corruption issue and pledged to look into the matter seriously. Meanwhile, DDEO Elementary Amanullah has been asked by the EDO education to hold an inquiry into the alleged misconduct. The DDEO said, “I have called the results from GJI Elementary School and if the headmaster was found guilty, strict action would be taken against him.”
Sources said that whosoever from the school staff opposed the headmaster, he suspended him. Naib Qasid Abdul Ghafoor, Sweeper Mehnga, Guard Muhammad Tayyab, PTC Muhammad Nawaz Bhatti and EST Ehsanullah Bajwa are among the victims, they added.
“The local politicians and media persons support him and cover his corruption,” said another source. MPA Muhammad Asif Bajwa from PP-130 denied the allegations and explained that Ehsanullah Bajwa, whose duty was cancelled by the MPA in the last general elections, was supporting his opponents and it was his right to get him removed from the election duty and also to get a restraining order against the political mobilisation by the government servant. About Mr Zulfiqar, the MPA refused to comment.
