LAHORE - Chairman P&D has called for an end to directives issued from the chief minister’s secretariat regarding initiation of development schemes as desired by the politicians.
In a meeting held to review pace of work on development projects, the chairman was told that 1466 directives were issued from the CM secretariat in the last two months alone.
If the directives continue to reach the P&D with the same pace, the finance department will be left with no funds even for a single development project for the next budget, the meeting was further told.
As the local bodies’ elections are scheduled to be held in September this year, parliamentarians from the PML-N are approaching the CM secretariat in great number to get directives issued for development schemes in their respective constituencies.
It was decided in the meeting that CM secretariat should be asked to stop issuance of such directives to enable the department to complete the ongoing development schemes.
