Enmity, accidents devour 11 lives

MULTAN/GUJRANEWALA/SAHIWAL/KASUR-Eleven persons including three women were killed in various incidents of enmity and road accidents occurred in different areas over the past 48 hours.
In Sahiwal, three members of the same family including a woman died and five others sustained injuries in collision between a car and van here on Sunday.
Rescue sources said that the accident occurred when a speeding Multan-bound car, coming from Okara, collided with van near 6/11-L Railway crossing in Chichawatni.
As a result, three persons including Muhammad Saleem, Sami and Ume-e-Hani died on the spot while Burhan, his wife Mehwish, six-year-old daughter Erij Fatima, Jannat Fatima, 4, and Muhammad Ahsan sustained critical wounds and were rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Chichawatni.
The police impounded both the vehicles and registered a case of the incident.
In Multan, three persons including a woman and her son, died in road accidents here on Sunday.
Rescue sources said that a speeding truck knocked down a motorcycle in Ali Town area of tehsil Shujaabad. Resultantly, the bike-rider and his mother, sitting pillion, died on the spot while the truck driver escaped the scene.
In another incident, a speeding van hit a motorcycle on Jalalpur Road, resulting in death of the motorcyclist identified as Nazir.
The dead bodies were shifted to different hospitals from where they were later handed over to the heirs after autopsy.
In Faisalabad, the driver of a tractor-trolley was killed after being hit by a fast-moving passenger train while crossing railway track here on Sunday.
Police said that a tractor-trolley was crossing the railway track near Sahianwala area when fact-moving Karakurram Express train hit it.
As a result, driver of the tractor-trolley died on the spot and the vehicles damaged adversely. The body was shifted to hospital from where it was handed over to heirs after post-mortem.
In Gujranwala, a man died in a road accident here near Shera Kot on GT Road on Sunday. The rescue sources informed that Akram, 60, a resident of Wazirabad, was crossing road when a speeding motorcycle hit him. Resultantly, he received serious injuries and was rushed to DHQ Hospital Gujranwala where he breathed his last.
In Kasur, a man was gunned down by younger brother and a woman was tortured to death in separate incidents in different areas here the other day.
In Gagga Sarai, suburbs of Phoolnagar, a man was shot dead by his younger brother. Sarwar Bibi, mother of the deceased, told the police that her elder son Usman admonished his younger brother Naveed over sitting in ‘vicious persons’ company. At which Naveed got enrage and in a fit of rage, shot his elder brother dead. The Phoolnagar Police registered a case against the accused.
In another incident, a woman was tortured to death by her brothers-in-law over domestic dispute in Gohar Jagir in the suburbs of Mandi Usmanwala.
Shehnaz Bibi, resident of Nizampura, told the police that she went to meet her mother Hameedan Bibi. In the meanwhile her mother’s brothers-in-law came there and tortured her severely over some domestic dispute. They also tortured Shehnaz when she tried to save her mother. She brought her mother to her home for medical treatment but she succumbed to her injuries. The Mandi Usmanwala Police registered a case against the accused.
In another incident, a man was killed by throwing him into a wheat threshing machine allegedly over an old enmity in Chak 25 here the other day. Rizwan, brother of the deceased man, a resident of Chak 25, told the police that the accused identified as Wajid, Abid and Asif lured his brother Shaban away to fields for wheat harvesting where they threw him into a threshing machine. As a result, Shaban sustained critical injuries and was shifted to a hospital. He, however, breathed his last on the way to hospital. The Kasur Saddr Police arrested the accused and registered a case against them.
