LAHORE - The 2nd Inspector Bahadur Ali Shaheed Basketball Tournament will start from June 1 at International Abdul Nasir Basketball Court Aram Bagh, Karachi, it was announced by Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA) President Ghulam Muhammad Khan on Sunday.
He further revealed that the matches of the tournament will be played in Karachi and Tando Jam. He added that the to conduct the tournament in a befitting manner, a tournament committee has been formed that will be headed by Shahida Parveen Kayani while international basketball player Zafar Iqbal will be its secretary, Baldia Korangi Deputy Director Muhammad Arshad will be media coordinator and Zahid Malik will be tournament technical committee chairman.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur said that the players of the participating teams will be provided with the best facilities as well as the high-standard umpiring. The top performing players and teams will be rewarded with valuable prizes at the end of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Tournament Chief Organizer Ghulam Muhammad Khan said that at the closing ceremony of the tournament, Anwar Bahadur Khanzada, Director Sports, Sindh Agricultural University, Tando Jam, will be awarded with Inspector Bahadur Ali Shaheed Gold Medal for his services for sports.
The KBBA president further said: “Being a president of Karachi Basketball Association, I am trying my best to conduct maximum basketball tournaments every year and for this, I remain busy in engaging true sports loving persons and sponsors, who very generously extend their support towards promotion and development of basketball. Like previous too many years, this year too, we have conducted a good number of tournaments and hopeful of organizing a record number of basketball event this year.”
