Govt approves construction of varsity in Murree

Rawalpindi - In order to provide quality higher education to the youth, the Punjab government approved construction of a university in Murree. The university would provide an opportunity to the males and females to get higher education at their doorstep instead of going to far-flung areas.

These views were expressed by the Acting Commissioner Rawalpindi Division/Deputy Commissioner Talat Mehmood Gondal while addressing a meeting here on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by the Director Development Naureen Bashir, VC FJWU Prof Dr Samina Amin Qadir, Hamayun Iqbal, AC Murree Arif Ullah Awan, Director Colleges Malik Asghar, ACG Attique ur Rehman and officials and officers of higher education and forest department.

Addressing the meeting, the commissioner ordered the concerned authorities to conduct a survey for the construction of the university in Murree and submit its report with his office.

He asked the authorities to ensure that the land selected for the university should be dispute free. He said the university in Murree would be given the status of sub-campus of one of the universities operating in the city.

He said the government is striving hard to resolve the basic problems of the masses and allocating huge budgets for the provision of quality education to people at their doorsteps.
