The Punjab Healthcare Commission has sealed 88 quackery outlets in the last two days. The PHC teams had carried out the action in 10 tehsils of the province and Iqbal Town Lahore, and visited 425 treatment centres. Out of these, 147 had been converted into other businesses. The teams had checked 54 centres in Khushab, Chiniot 50, Safdarabad 48, Jampur 47, and 46 each in Sahiwal and Lodhran. The number of sealed ones was 13 each in Jampur and Lodhran, Chiniot 11, Sahiwal 10 and eight in Chishtian. The Spokesperson of the PHC has said since the Supreme Court order in April this year, the PHC teams had visited 23,904treatment centres, sealed 6,637outlets of quacks, whereas at 7,121centres, quacks’ businesses had been replaced with other trades. “The Commission has closed down over 16,900 businesses of quacks since the launch of its anti-quackery campaign in July 2015,” he added.
