RAWALPINDI - The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on Friday ordered restoration of the local body system Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB).
LHC Rawalpindi Bench Justice Shahid Jamil laid down the verdict while taking up a petition filed by members of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) under the leadership of Abdul Rashid Khan.
When Justice Shahid Jamil took up petition, the prosecutor argued that the authorities have stopped the public elected representatives of RCB from working. He added the elected members of board could perform their duties until holding next elections and electing the new body. Act of RCB high ups is violation of Cantonment Act Section 15-E, he told court.
The prosecutor mentioned that earlier the courts had also restored the boards. He pleaded the court to allow the public elected representatives of RCB to serve public until happening of next elections.
The defence lawyer opposed the comments of protestor. Justice Shahid Jamil of LHC Rawalpindi Bench had ordered restoration of local body system in RCB after completion of arguments of both parties.
