ISLAMABAD - Following the orders of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas, the Anti Vehicle Lifting Cell of Islamabad Police, in a massive crackdown against car-lifters has arrested two car-lifters involved in numerous car pilfering incidents, a police spokesman said on Saturday.
Following the directions, Incharge AVLC Inspector Liaqat Ali along with other officials arrested two car-lifters identified as Wirasat and Mohsin Ali and recovered eight vehicles from different areas KP and Punjab. Further investigation is underway.
IGP Islamabad has appreciated the performance of the police team and further directed them to continue this crackdown. He said that Islamabad police have already returned more than 60 vehicles to their actual owners. We are committed to eliminating the crime from the city, he added.
Meanwhile, Tarnol police have arrested three active members of a dacoit gang for their involvement in a series of snatching bids at gunpoint at GT Road and adjacent areas, the spokesman informed. SP Saddar Tassawar Iqbal constituted special police teams in the area to arrest the criminal involved in street crimes. One of the Tarnol Police Team headed by SHO Tarnol Iqbal Gujjar and other police officials arrested three accused of a snatchers gang. Police team also recovered mobile phones, cash and weapons along with ammunition.
The accused have confessed to more than 15 snatching incidents in the area while further investigation is underway.
