Delimitation process begins in Sukkur

SUKKUR - Sukkur Division Commissioner Dr Muhammad Usman Chachar has directed all Deputy Commissioners of Sukkur, Ghotki and Khairpur to submit maps of their concerned districts so that delimitation process could be started immediately.

According to detail, the commissioner issued these directives while presiding over a meeting in his office on Tuesday in connection with making preparations of upcoming general elections. The meeting was attended by Regional Election Commissioner Sukkur, Deputy Commissioners Sukkur, Khairpur and Ghotki, District Election Commissioners, Assistant Census Commissioners, and other concerned officials attended the meeting.

He directed that the maps of the areas may be deposited promptly for delimitation so that no any hurdle could create in the work of upcoming general elections.

He also directed the Assistant Director Local Government for submission of the maps of municipal corporation, town & municipal committees of all the districts by January 3, 2018 adding that no delay in this regard would be acceptable at all.

He directed the Deputy Election Commissioners to point out the very sensitive polling stations which were missed in past elections where incidents of clash took place, such report may be provided immediately.

He also directed to ensure arrangements including boundary wall, water, electricity, washrooms, CCTV cameras while provision of wheelchairs for disabled voters in the schools nominated for the polling stations.

During the meeting, it was decided to set up the Election Coordination Cell in all the districts in connection with making preparations for the upcoming general elections.

The commissioner directed the District Election Commissioners for strengthening their coordination and contacts with concerned Deputy Commissioners and resolve the problems concerning with the arrangements of delimitation of elections in the districts.

During the meeting, District Election Commissioners informed about start of geographic information service soon on the Google for awareness and to facilitate the people.
