Moot reviews measures for keeping Lahore clean, green

Participants informed about utilisation of all available resources for cleaning streets, planting trees

LAHORE   -  Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid chaired a meeting on Friday to review measures for keeping Lahore clean and green.

Senator Ejaz Ch, Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Hamayun, Minister for School Education Department Dr Murad Raas, and other officers concerned attended the meeting.

The health minister said: “All available resources are being utilised to achieve the dream of Prime Minister Imran Khan for a clean and green Lahore. The PHA will plant 5 million trees in Lahore, and they will share the roadmap in next two days. Plantation on the railway land is on the cards. WASA has developed a strategy for drainage during monsoon season. Three large scale projects shall be completed to improve sewerage system in Lahore. Lahore drains are being cleared regularly. Steps are being taken for supply of clean drinking water to Lahorites. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved adequate funds to resolve the issues of the city. There will be no stagnant water on roads after completion of these projects. An amount of Rs1.5 billion will be spent for the completion of these projects. Timely completion of these projects is our first priority. The LDA has been directed to remove garbage from many sites in Lahore. We are trying to develop more and more play areas in Lahore. All complaints coming on Khidmat App are being addressed on a priority basis. We want to see Lahore beautiful and clean. All institutions are working hard to make Lahore clean.”

Senator Ejaz Ch said that all stakeholders were working in synergy for a clean Lahore. “The city can only be beautified by the joint efforts of all partners. An awareness campaign on cleanliness must be initiated as the support of people is crucial for this,” he added.

Minister for School Education Dr Murad Raas said that situation was improving in Lahore by joint efforts of all departments. “The people of Lahore are satisfied with the performance of all institutions,” he added.

Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Hamayun said that all the institutions including LWMC deserved appreciation for their good performance. “Monitoring of cleanliness is being done on directions from Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar,” he added.
