LAHORE - Newly appointed Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti while addressing a function at a local hotel in his honour stated that the current LHC CJ Qasim Khan performed his services diligently. He further said, “if we wanted to save the system, we have to stop the way of people who were bent upon destroying the system.”
This function was organised by Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) which was attended by a large number of lawyers and judges. In his address, Justice Ameer Bhatti said that there was a strong linkage between bench and bar. All those who wanted to spoil this relation, must be stopped, he added. Bar association should take notice of the Faisalabad incident also.
Outgoing Chief Justice Qasim Khan said that bar was my first home and bench and bar had a cordial relationship. He said, “I have given all authority to the upcoming new Chief Justice.”
He thanked the bar for their full cooperation during his tenure and they solved all the issues in a positive way. The CJ further said, “we are working for rule of law and lawyers are the backbone of judiciary.”
The CJ said that we should ensure quick justice for the poor because they had high expectations from the judiciary. He first comes to the door of a lawyer and then in the chamber of a judge. We have to jointly provide justice to the poor people, he added. On the occasion SCBA presidential candidate Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon thanked the participants of the function and eulogised the services of the outgoing LHC CJ Qasim Khan and welcomed Muhammad Ameer Bhatti as upcoming CJ.
PBC Chairman Khushdil Khan thanked Justice Ameer Bhatti for attending the function. The function was also attended by Justice Shahram Sarwar, Secretary LHCBA Khawaja Mohsin, AG Punjab Ahmad Awais, Ramzan Chaudhary, Tahir Nasrullah Warraich, Asghar Gill and others.
