Traders want to keep shops open till 9pm

LAHORE DCO Lahore Sajjad Bhutta has said the demand of the protesting traders to keep their shops open till 9pm has been conveyed to the Chief Minister Punjab. However he added, as many as 200 representatives of various traders organisations and associations in the city have assured him of closing down their shops at 8pm. Traders said that majority of the people came to the shops after the setting of scorching sun; DCO assured them that he would take up the matter on June 8 next. Bhutta said the Chief Minister would meet the Prime Minister to present point of view of the city traders and the difficulty they were facing so that like other provinces, the Punjab point of view on keeping the shops open till 9pm could also be taken into consideration. He said traders were backbone of the national economy and they had supported the government at every hard time as such the government was responsible to accept their legitimate and genuine demands. The DCO said every matter would be settled with consensus and mutual agreement and law would be pressed into service in case of any decision was violated. Traffic awareness programme DIG Traffic Police Tariq Masood Yaseen has said the traffic police are committed to create awareness regarding traffic rules among students of different schools, colleges and varsities and general public. He expressed these views, while delivering a special lecture on traffic rules here at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) School, on Wednesday. He said more than 150 male and female wardens had been delivering lectures in different educational institutions. The DIG maintained that the youth was our national asset, which should be polished in every sector especially regarding traffic rules. PAF Base Commander Lahore, Air Commodore Afzal Abbasi and the school and college Principal Syed Mohammad Nasir praised the hectic efforts of DIG Tariq Masood. appointed DIG Aslam Tareen has been appointed as Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, said a notification issued here on Wednesday. Prior to his fresh posting, he was performing his duties as Regional Police Officer in Rawalpindi. Transferred, posted Capt. (r) Muhammad Faisal Rana (PSP/BS-18), awaiting posting, has been transferred and posted as Additional Superintendent of Police, Security, Lahore vice Imran Ahmar (PSP/BS-18) who is proceeding on Ex-Pakistan Leave, with immediate effect.
