Rigorous training imperative for effective response to wide ranging threats: COAS

ISLAMABAD - Chairman of Pakistan-Qatar Takaful Insurance Company and Member of the Ruling Family of State of Qatar Sheikh Ali Bin Abdullah Thani J. Al Thani called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday.

“During the meeting matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including recent developments in Afghan Peace Process and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed,” says a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate following the meeting.

Acknowledging positive trajectory of Pakistan-Qatar relationship, the COAS appreciated Qatar’s support to Pakistan in various domains. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s contributions for conflict prevention in the region and expressed desire for enhanced Pakistan-Qatar bilateral collaboration.

Gen Bajwa visits field training area

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited field training area near Kotli on Wednesday. According to the ISPR, COAS was briefed about conduct modalities of a Corps level exercise ‘Taskheer-e-Jabal’. The exercise is aimed at enhancing operational preparedness of formations, encompassing defensive and offensive tasks during various contingencies within an operational cycle.

The troops and units participating in exercise will rehearse various defensive and offensive manoeuvres in the mountainous terrain.

Appreciating dedication and professionalism of participating troops, COAS expressed satisfaction over combat readiness of the formation. “Rigorous training and continued practice of operational drills are imperative for effective response to wide ranging threats,” COAS emphasised. Earlier, on arrival, COAS was received by Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Azhar Abbas.
