Rawalpindi - Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan on Wednesday visited Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to review security arrangements made by police for the Australian cricket team.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ashfaq Ahmed Khan and senior police officials were also present on the occasion. While presiding over a high level meeting along with the Punjab chief secretary during their visit to Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, IGP Punjab has directed that best security arrangements be ensured for the matches of Pakistan-Australia Cricket Series in Rawalpindi and Lahore using all available resources. He directed that steps should be taken under a comprehensive strategy for the security and convenience of all the players and match officials as well as the cricket fans. He said that an effective traffic management plan should be formulated for the uninterrupted flow of traffic in the vicinity of the hotel and the stadium for convenience of citizens. During the meeting, RPO briefed the provincial police chief about the security arrangements.

IGP directed that best arrangements should be made for effective coordination with the concerned security agencies at the time of movement of teams and entry and exit of spectators in the stadium. On the occasion, CPO Rawalpindi briefed that 4500 personnel are being deployed for security and traffic arrangements at stadium and routes.
