PESHAWAR - A female polio worker was shot dead on Wednesday by her ex-fiance in Daudzai suburban area of the provincial capital on Wednesday.
Police said that lady health worker Iqra Hayat vaccinated children in the area and while on her way back home, she was targeted by the armed man. The woman was taken to Lady Reading Hospital but she could not survive the bullet wounds.
The father of the slain woman, Hayat Khan, later charged one Saifullah in the case. The police said Saifullah, a resident of Nowshera district, is a former fiancé of the victim. Iqra had been engaged to the accused, but later the engagement was dissolved, which reportedly angered the accused.
