ISLAMABAD - Shimza Tahir, Bismina, Sheeza Sajid and Esha Jawad moved into the McDonalds National Junior Tennis Championships 2017 girls U-18 singles semifinals category after defeating their respective opponents in the quarterfinals here at Pakistan Sports Complex tennis courts on Thursday.
Bismina had to fight hard to eliminate Roma Akbar in three sets, as she won 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (3). Sheeza Sajid defeated Sadia Qaza in a well-contested two sets match 7-6 (5), 6-1.
In the boys U-14 event, Sami Zaib, Hasheesh Kumar, Hamid Israr and Abdul Hanan entered the semifinals by beating their respective opponents in straight sets. In boys U-18 doubles quarterfinals, M Shoaib/Saqib Umer beat Ahmed Asjad/Hamza Bin Rehan 6-2,6-4; Sami Zaib/Subhan bin Salik beat Musa Ch/Ilham Khan 6-4,2-6,11-9; Zalan Khan/M Abdullah beat Abdul Samad Areejo/Hasheesh Kumar 6-2, 2-6,10-4; Asad Ullah/Aqib Umer w/o Waleed Qureshi/Ahsan.
In boys U-12 singles second round matches, Abdul Hanan beat Azan Sajid 4-0,4-1; Hamza Roman beat Faiz ur Rehman 4-0,4-0; Bilal Asim beat Huzaima Abdul Rehman 4-1, 2-4, 4-2; Ahmed Nael beat M Hamza Asim 4-1,4-2; M Huzaifa Khan beat M Zaryab Khan 4-2, 1-4, 4-2; Mahatir Muhammad beat Jamal Shah 4-0,4-0; M Talha Khan beat Hamza Khan 4-0, 4-1; Hamid Israr beat Hamid Ullah Yaqub 4-1,4-2.
