ANF foils heroin smuggling bid at Islamabad airport  

RAWALPINDI - The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled a bid of heroin smuggling at New Islamabad International Airport by arresting three suspected smugglers, informed ANF HQ spokesman on Tuesday.

A case has been registered against the accused with ANF Police Station while further investigation was on, he said.

According to him, ANF Regional Directorate North, on a tip-off, enhanced surveillance around airport. He said the ANF spotted suspected car with three persons on board. During course of search, ANF found 1.5 kg ice from the car and held the suspected smugglers, he said. DG ANF Maj Gen Ghulam Shabbir Narejo appreciated the efforts of the force. On the other hand, police also intensified operation against drug peddlers in twin cities. Rawalpindi police, following orders of CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas, held three drug peddlers namely Nauman, Ijaz and Muhammad Ibrahim from different localities of city and seized 950 grams of Charas from their possession. Separate cases have been lodged against the accused while further investigation was on, according to a police spokesman.
