Rawalpindi-The prices of tandoori roti and samosa have increases in the city following an increase in flour and potato rates in the market.
The price of tandoori roti jumped to Rs12 from Rs10 and naan from Rs15 to Rs18 while paratha and kultcha are being sold at Rs35 and Rs25 respectively.
Similarly, the price of samosa has also increased from Rs25 to Rs30 in all markets of the district.
The Naanbai Association has written a letter to district government about the increase in roti and naan prices.
Citizens protested against the increase in prices of roti and samosa.
“We have been receiving a 20 kilogramme flour bag at a higher price. The super fine flour is also available on very high rates,” said a naanbai while talking to The Nation on Tuesday. The price of roti was only raised after an increase in flour prices, he added. He lamented that the government has failed in controlling price hike while doubling the miseries of masses. 
Likewise, vendors and shopkeepers selling samosas attributed the increase in price of samosa to higher prices of edible oil, potato, spices, and other ingredients.
“What do we do? The potato is available at Rs80 to Rs90 per kg in market whereas cooking oil is costing us at Rs390 to Rs400 per litre in the market,” said a vendor in district courts Rawalpindi here. He said people are more health conscious now, so they just insist not to use once used oil for frying samosas.
On the other hand, citizens protested against the increase in prices of roti and samosa. They urged district administration to take action against naanbais and vendors for selling roti and samosa at high rates.
Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi was not available for his comments on the issue.
